5. The last free city on Earth
In the Colorado desert (southeastern California), there is a place called Slab city. There are mostly those who have nowhere to go – they are tramps, homeless people, disillusioned hippies and elderly people. This city consists of trailers and makeshift shacks. In the 40s, there was a military base and training ground, which was moved ten miles to the North. And almost every night, the locals listen to the sound of gunfire mixed with the howling of coyotes. After the war, there were many bunkers, observation bases, and other structures called slabs-hence the name of the city. No one pays for an apartment or taxes in Slab city. There are no utilities here. This is quite strange and unusual, but the inhabitants of this place say that they are cozy and comfortable here. The locals called it “the last free place of the United States”.
6. Blue city
Traveling in Morocco, you can get to an amazing and beautiful place-the town of Chaven. Here everything is painted in blue and blue colors-walls, doors, stairs, sidewalks have an amazing color – from blue to blue shades. This is due to the fact that in ancient times, Jews lived here, who considered the color blue sacred. Therefore, they painted their homes only in this color. The Jews have not lived in this place for a long time, but the tradition has been preserved. It is passed down from generation to generation.
7. Rock city
The unusual city of Setenil de Las Bodegas, located in the South of Spain, attracts the attention of tourists from all over the world. They come here to see the miracle created by nature and the skillful hands of man. The thing is that the city is located in a huge rock and is one with it. Instead of the blue sky overhead, you can see overhanging basalt rocks. It seems that they can fall on their heads at any time. But they’ve been here for centuries.

8. A city with a single roof
In Alaska, there is the city of Whittier, which is under one roof. It is located in a 14-storey building-a former army barracks. The entire infrastructure is located here: shops, a hospital, a police station, and a school. There is also a Church and other necessary institutions for life. The fact is that in this amazing place almost all year round very strong frosts and winds. And in order to save heating and electricity, this city was built. By the way, only 220 people live here.

9. A city where the number of dead is greater than the number of living
There are more than 17 cemeteries in the California city of Colma. And for every living person, there are about 1,000 dead. The city’s territory is 4,944 square kilometers, of which 75% is occupied by cemeteries. At the time, the authorities decided to remove all cemeteries from the nearby city of San Francisco. And all the dead were reburied in this place. Previously, only florists, grave diggers, and monument makers lived in the city. But in 1980, people from other professions started coming here. Today, the city’s motto is ” it’s Great to be alive in Kolma!”

10. The city of humanoids
