The Cathedral cave
The Cathedral cave is located on the Coromandel Peninsula, famous for its beautiful beaches and warm climate. It is called a Cathedral because it resembles a Gothic Cathedral in shape. This is one of the few caves in the world where musical performances were held.
The cave, which is 120 meters long and more than 20 meters high, was once used as a concert hall, where the famous Opera singer Kiri Te Kanawa gave her performance.
A stone’s throw from the cave is Hahei beach: white sand, beautiful pokhutukava and turquoise waves – the perfect place for wedding ceremonies and just romantic evenings.
Everyone will be able to visit the Te Fanganui-a-HEI marine reserve and admire the underwater beauty of these places by scuba diving or booking a boat tour with a transparent bottom.
