Yellowstone national Park (Yellowstone national Park or simply Yellowstone, Yellowstone) is the oldest and one of the most famous national parks in the United States.
Yellowstone is located in three States-Wyoming (most of the Park, about 96% of the total area), Idaho and Montana. The area of the reserve is 8,983 km2 (this is more than the States of Delaware or Rhode island); the length of the Park from North to South is 101 kilometers, and from West to East – 87 kilometers. The highest point in Yellowstone is Eagle Peak (3,466 meters above sea level), and the lowest point is the Bank of Reese Creek (1,610 meters). Continue reading
Outwardly, the fjords resemble calm blue lakes, but the water in them is salty. In fact, these are long, narrow sea bays that cut deep into the land. On both sides of the fjords are often framed by majestic rocks.
Small and large waterfalls that originate on high-altitude glaciers break down from almost vertical rocky shores.
Although one fjord is often an extension of another and you can sail from fjord to fjord and return to the open sea, on the fjords you will feel as if you were transported to another universe, especially if you came to this region in the winter. Continue reading
If someone went to Myanmar for just a couple of days and asked me for advice on what to see, I would definitely recommend going to Bagan. This is a valley with 2000 + ancient temples. It’s an amazing place, we spent three days there, got a lot of impressions, took several thousand photos and gigabytes of video.
Marco Polo also called Bagan one of the most magnificent places in the world, and we fully agree with him 🙂
Bagan (aka pagan, in English Bagan, in Burmese ပုဂ) is the capital of the eponymous Kingdom of Myanmar, where there are more than 2000 Buddhist temples (in the heyday of the city there were more than 4000). In the 11-13 centuries, there was a large city (50-200 thousand people), a cultural center of Buddhism, where pilgrims from all over Asia flocked. Continue reading
Petra (Arabic. البتراء read “al-Batra”) is an ancient city located in the South — West of Jordan, the former capital of Idumea, and later of the Nabataean Kingdom. It is located at an altitude of more than 900 m above sea level in the narrow Sik canyon. The capital of Jordan, Amman, is 236 km away.
The ancient city of Petra belongs to the new wonders of the world, and is also included in the UNESCO world heritage list. Millions of tourists come here to see the rock city with their own eyes. The spectacle is really impressive, since it is impossible to believe that this was created several millennia ago. Continue reading
Machu Picchu (in Quechua, machu pikchu means ” Old Mountain”) is a mysterious Inca city built in the middle of the XV century, and the main attraction for which travelers go on tours of Peru. It is located about 100 km from the capital of the Inca Empire, Cuzco, in the mountains at an altitude of 2450 meters above sea level and is so hidden in the Andes that the Spanish colonizers could not reach it. We learned about this city in 1911 thanks to the American scientist from Yale Hiram Bingham. Although it is fair to say that the locals always knew about Machu Picchu, but were in no hurry to share information with outsiders. Continue reading
