5. The last free city on Earth
In the Colorado desert (southeastern California), there is a place called Slab city. There are mostly those who have nowhere to go – they are tramps, homeless people, disillusioned hippies and elderly people. This city consists of trailers and makeshift shacks. In the 40s, there was a military base and training ground, which was moved ten miles to the North. And almost every night, the locals listen to the sound of gunfire mixed with the howling of coyotes. After the war, there were many bunkers, observation bases, and other structures called slabs-hence the name of the city. Continue reading

Han Son dung (Son Doong) (mountain river Cave)

Over the past year, twenty new caves have been opened in Vietnam, including the giant Han Son dung cave, or hang Sondong (the name can be translated as “mountain river Cave”). In fact, the local tribes that live in the jungle have long known about this cave, but they were afraid of it because of the whistling sounds that make the underground river flowing in this cave. The world community only became aware of this natural wonder in 2009, when a group of British researchers from the British Association of cave explorers (BCRA) examined this cave. Citizens from the respectable part of Brazil created a national Park called Chapada Diamantina (in the original Chapada Diamantina). More precisely, the Creator of the Park, as, indeed, all that is beautiful on Earth, was nature. Man only surrounded this corner of the Brazilian countryside with care.
