5. The last free city on Earth
In the Colorado desert (southeastern California), there is a place called Slab city. There are mostly those who have nowhere to go – they are tramps, homeless people, disillusioned hippies and elderly people. This city consists of trailers and makeshift shacks. In the 40s, there was a military base and training ground, which was moved ten miles to the North. And almost every night, the locals listen to the sound of gunfire mixed with the howling of coyotes. There are extraordinarily beautiful white beaches here. They are located in the archipelago of the Holy Trinity and are called White Harbor beaches. The sand is so white and fine that it looks more like sugar or powder.
